March Chocolate Bar Pick!

This month I would like to go for one of my favorite Specialties Bar. That is a bar with a little something in it. I believe I would like to recommend the Dolfin Au Poivre Rose Bar.

Dolfin makes some really enjoyable bars with spice, one of the best being the Masala Bar, it kind of reminds me of Chai, but the Au Poivre Rose (Pink Peppercorn) is one that I really can't do without. I am not a big hot and spicy person, so this one is for me. The Pink Peppercorns are a little sweet and not too peppery. The 52% Dark Chocolate is the perfect match. It has a nice crunch that doesn't burn your mouth and has a lot of flavor.

So, if you are little skittish about spicy chocolates, but would really like to try one, this is one that you may want to look at. It has some heat and pepper, but a lot of flavor and not the annoying mouth burn. Dolfin Au Poivre Rose is a great choice.

Have You Tried the Toffee?

One of the items that we sell, that I absolutely love is the Almond Toffee by Bellatrix Confections. Bellatrix Confections is a small company, just starting out, out of Hayward. I am happy to be helping a small company get off the ground, especially when their products are this good. Anya Wayne is the Chocolatier and Confectioner and she is doing some amazing things.

You may have tried their Four Pack of Truffles that we carried over Valentine's. We still have a couple of boxes in the store. I bought some to try and they are absolutely dreamy. So creamy and melt in your mouth, smooth. The DeVries Truffle is dark and rich with the right hint of bitterness to move you toward heaven and the Honey Almond Truffle is sweet with hint of crunch. When you eat them you know you have something special.

If you haven't tried their toffee, come in and try it out. It is hard to eat just one piece. We carry them in milk and dark chocolates and they are topped with a touch of Fleur de Sel.

This is my recommendation of the month, Bellatrix Almond Toffee.

Did you hear the Amadei reference on 30 Rock?

If you were watching 30 Rock this week on NBC, as I was, you may have heard a reference to the "World's Most Expensive Chocolate" Now I don't know if this is true, but they mentioned the Amadei Porcelana 70% Dark Chocolate Bar. One thing I do know is that it is good.

Now we currently carry a couple of very good chocolates from Amadei, unfortunately not the Porcelana Bar. We do have the Chuao and Tavoletta dark bars, as well as the Tavoletta Milk Bar, which I think is the best milk that we carry. As for the Chuao, when doing a staff tasting all of the employees said, "Wow". It is one of those bars that you just like to savor, really rich and creamy with some great hints of berries.

Stop by and try Amadei if you haven't before, or come in and reaquaint yourself with it. You won't be disappointed.

Amano Chocolate

Those of you who may have watched Food Network this past Monday may have caught the "Unwrapped" episode where the chocolate manufacturer "Amano" was featured. If you were curious about this wonderful, American-made chocolate, we carry their Ocumare and their Madagascar bars for you to take home and enjoy!

Just a little tidbit-- the Amano Ocumare bar was voted "Best bar in America" by NPR!
